| There seems to be an error in the article which causes unclarity. The Ealing Council website says the collections will pause from 1 December to 1 March. The article says 'from the beginning of September' which seems to be wrong. Because of the years of austerity, councils' funding from government has dropped dramatically and I presume this is another case of uncomfortable choices about reducing spending where they can. A number of councils across the UK have declared themselves effectively bankrupt of course. Meanwhile, lack of investment in public libraries, sweeping the streets, fixing potholes etc. Sad times. |
