| One thing Truss was right about was the need for more immigration to boost employment and to 'grow' the economy and increase the tax take. I can't see Braverman going along with that. With about 25,000 people a year coming over in rubber boats, far from keeping them out, we need to bring in about 10 years worth of boats to compensate for the European workers who left after Brexit. If we continue with our mistaken belief in British exceptionalism and superiority and increased isolationism, we'll be faced with years of austerity and worse as our economy progressively collapses and, as a nation, we become more and more of a joke - even without Johnson pretending to run things. |
