"Are you an inventor Stewart" Kind of. I know about patent lawers. "The all you are is a product of what you read" is just the old 'what do you know, you just learn from books not from life' argument. I do read books, not as often as I like, but my knowledge comes from a lot of talks (people passing on knowledge first hand), conversations and other stuff other than 'books'. Yes my view is only one view - but I like to believe it's fairly well informed. And if it's not then I fully expect those smarter and more informed to me to point out the mistakes I make, the reason I like talking to those smarter and more informed than me in real life. "Ive read enough about Jenny Green and made a judgement call on how much all this green stuff is costing us in higher bills." Who is Jenny Green? Oh you mean Jenny Jones. And by read enough was that, by any chance, from a tabloid or other right wing newspaper. Perhaps you got some views form talk radio. If so you havn't read anywhere near enough. The myth is that all views are equal. They're not. An informed view trumps an uninformed one every day. You can have your own opinions but you can't have your own facts. This 'green stuff' works out to be more sustainable and cheaper in the long run than the current system. What's more if you don't like what the energy companies are selling you then you can start to make your own (with a small investment). Going green that some households now sell power back to the energy companies. Pulling out would madness. We should be doing the exact opposite, getting stuck in and being part of the central team driving Europe. Then we become a superpower able to compete with Chine etc. If we pull out we'd disappear off the list of powerful countries. Doors will close to us and we become a country cottage slowly crumbling. But at least we'll have morris dancers and a bad diet. Argghghghghgh. |
