'If you want to get a "feel" for what a Lab/Lib pact would be like you need look no further than our good neighbour France where since the election of a Socialist President the economy has stopped flat-lining and has drifted into a second recession.' bit of a sweeping statement, that with a good dash of scaremongering and heaps of dogma personally i thought a Lab/Lib pact was possible some time before the last general election as i thought that i was possibly not the only one who did not want either Labour or Conservative offering and most people on here just could not even imagine that a hung parliament was a possibility before those TV debates put Lib on the map (notable exception i can recall was Guy Lambert) and i still love to see Vince Cable as Chancellor as i did then and i was laughed at he ain't perfect, we all know that but he is the only one i can see in front line politics i have any respect for and who i reckon can help us out of this mess he won't have all the solutions himself but he also seems willing to listen and consider other talent and inputs maybe it won't be too long when many of feel that the time for party politics has come fed up with the same old yabo politics same old 2 parties who take it for granted that it has to be one of the other and it will be superceded by issue driven politics propelled by non-traditional-political grass roots organisations powered by secure online involvement with citizens it won't be perfect either of course as there always have to be trade-offs made which is difficult in purely issue-driven politics p.s. you can't always predict the future by looking at the past 'disruptive' technologies and methods do create new ways of doing things and new opportunities and if party policticians won't get onboard with that they might find themselves irrelevant at some point in the future esp if we can get proportional representation through at some point and get away from first past the post and a huge chunk of electorate disenfranched when they don't vote for the main parties and the 'first past the post system' rant over |
