The Dorset Coast Express pulled by steam engine Bittern - in the guise of Dominion of New Zealand - was slightly late through Chiswick this morning, held up by a delayed Hounslow Loop Line service ahead of it on the track. The commuter train heading in the opposite direction, towards London Waterloo, was also running late. The result was that old and new met, and crossed, right in front of me - just to the east of Chiswick station:
