In the news story on the home page, Sarah Finch-Crisp is quoted as saying: "It doesn’t apply to all organised events like the opera where bringing a picnic is encouraged as part of the event and we do not want to cause confusion over this and will therefore not sign this particular regulation so prominently." Does this mean its OK for people coming to an Opera or some other 'organised events' to bring their own booze but not regular everyday visitors? And does not displaying the warning prominently change the legal position? If it doesn't, isn't this a kind of collusion in encouraging law breaking by making the signs less visible to satisfy certain 'special' visitors who can then claim they didn't know about the ban? |
