Chris, I don't know where the lovely Richard Jennings has gone but he would have given you the definitive answer. Some years ago we all had bays considerably smaller and a number of us got tickets. I went round measuring all the streets in the locale and included H & F and Ealing only to find that their bays were considerably larger than ours and subsequently Hounslow came round and increased the width of our parking bays to 2 metres and since then only the careless are caught. Rather than Mary McLeod, you should get onto your local Councillor and ask them to investigate the rules on this. My recollection (and I could be mistaken) is that if you are parked with your wheels within 10 cms of the kerb and still overhang the white line then you are correctly parked and not liable for a ticket. Your beast is a perfectly legitimate vehicle and I think this is worth pursuing. |
