The below is not about Nick Clegg and his agenda, but more on the general points of funding higher education.... As it not free to provide, I am not exactly sure why student's education need to be paid for by society. Why should it be free? Students are adults and they can earn their money, and usually do so .. I just do not understand why millions of people live of the rest. Lower the taxes; this will give people freedom to choose education, or anything people want to choose to do with the money. Higher education courses which are paid for by taxpayer's money, and which are not relevant for carrier progression should not be paid for. Why should they be paid for? Someone who studies philosophy for years and than works on a supermarket's check out thereafter, should not be relieved from paying Saying that I believe in the grants system also, for those who are happy to pay say 50-75% and the rest could be paid for the by the grants system. I have no problem with that but higher education should not be completely free, simply because it is not free to provide |
