Furthermore why subsidise economically inactive people (particularly pensioners) to live in areas (like Hammersmith & Fulham) closest to the hubs of employment.

It is crazy that city workers travel in from 50 or 60 miles away because they can't affor to live closer to the centre of London while OAPs have council flats in Fulham.
