Maggie, sorry for delay in responding. If you have good relationship with the other owner of the property then may be worth teaming up with them to then obtain one policy for the whole building. this should not be too difficult to achieve. The advantages are that; (1) the policy should be less expensive split between two (2) there should not problems of "double" insurance should you need to make a claim (- this is probably the reason why insurers are reluctant to become involved)(3) as and when you or other owners come to sell, purchaser's lawyers would wonder why each flat has its own insurance and this could cause delays as the lease may well specify the "freeholder" should insure with the premium split between the owners of the flats. |
