Topic: Buildings Insurance for a Maisonette

I have been told by a couple of companies that they don't do buildings insurance on flats or maisonettes.  I cannot understand why, and they don't offer any reason.  We share the freehold with the upper flat and I am also being offered different advice about whether or not we should ensure the building as a whole.  Any insurance experts out there offer any info on the subject please.
