| Thank you Janice and you are quite right. Leavers voted for several often conflicting reasons. They were made up of about 5 or 6 different 'tribes'. One of which was the impoverishment of the poorer sections, as an act of protest, Empire 2.0, anti immigration, sovereignty, control, better economy, free trade (sic!), WTO (snigger!), staying in SM & CU.... In effect the biggest 'tribe' were those voting to stay In, by a very long shot. Hence the necessity of a 2nd Ref on the actual deal was essential (and would likely have failed unless it was much toned down as in a Norway style deal). None of the outcomes in my first paragraph have borne fruit as we are now realising. |
