Why do you think they give bus stops names these days? It didn’t used to be a thing. You just had fare stages. The point here is really that calling something ‘Old Market Place’ is meaningless if nobody knows where that is. Ask any reasonably long standing Chiswick resident where that is and they wouldn’t know. Ask them where Chiswick Police station is and most would answer instantly. If they want to rename it then surely New Market Place would’ve more appropriate. But they’d have to spend some time and money telling people where that is. Since Old Market Place doesn’t exist they either create that location by giving that part of the High Road that name, which would require a consultation so everyone was aware of the change, or they keep the old name for the stop. There’s no market there most days so most wouldn’t know it by that name. The bottom line for most bus users is to know where they want to get off. |
