How about ‘police not investigating bike thefts’? Not exactly priority in the current global economic situation, yet you This isn’t just about changing a few road signs. If they are renaming a road then there’s a set legal process that has to be followed, not least because if there are businesses located there or people living there they have to be consulted. There are plenty of decisions made behind closed doors already, one of the main drawbacks of a cabinet system. Often those decisions are made after consultation with a few select interest groups, such as developers, and then presented to the rest of us as a fait accompli. It’s a bit silly of you to dismiss genuine concerns about these processes when such decisions affect where people live and how they live. It’s not just the shouty minority who deserve a hearing. |
