In point of fact, it is unlawful to stop any child from going on a school trip if a parent cannot afford the cost or is unwilling to pay. Schools can only ask for voluntary contributions from parents towards the cost of a trip. Of course, if parents elect not to pay then the school has to either cover the cost from its own funds or cancel the trip. |
