Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of young people in London earning very decent salaries and they can’t afford decent accommodation on their own. This has been the situation for decades in London. Hence people flat share and share rents, electricity, gas and Council Tax. It’s nothing new. But THIS thread is about feeding children and sending them to school hungry. When responsible young people earning good salaries realise that they can’t afford to live alone, they take precautions. They don’t just breed and expect to miraculously be able to live alone and pay all the additional bills for bringing up a child. This is just irresponsible madness. Francis cites the case of his friend trying to support a 3 year old on her own in a foreign country! I can cite the case of high earning couple living in Sheen; a barrister and a banker with one child who have a child but they have positively rejected having another child at the moment simply because they can’t afford it. It’s called acting responsibly! Hounslow Council surely has to start educating people to act responsibly because it is criminal that people are sending their kids to school hungry. |
