"this was an example of a person I know, an example of the idea of 'working poor'." Indeed, I have no problem with debating your example. But for some reason you elected to be sarcastic, in a somewhat childlike manner, by talking about Isleworth 'seceding' when it was you who mentioned that your 'example' was Romanian and was living in Isleworth. As said, I would be happy to debate your 'example' in a grown up matter but it seems you prefer to go down the route of sarcasm. Thank you for permitting me to feel free to think you are catastrophising; I do indeed believe you are catastrophising in your example because it is wrong on so many levels. It's a pity your friend couldn't have sought counsel from an Advice Bureau because the correct advice could have helped her and encouraged her to stay in the UK. I suspect though, that the Brexit vote ultimately prompted her to make the decision to move home because I know so many wonderful EU citizens who felt so unwelcome after the Brexit vote that they too deserted the sinking ship of Mud Island. |
