Michael Robinson is not a Cllr. He is an un-elected self-styled expert. His role within in the Hounslow Cycling Group is not clear - perhaps he would lke to clarify this?

Mr Robinson's questions.

ANPR Technology - at what point did I become aware of the reality involved implementing ANPR?

Answer: ANPR technology is just a tool for getting the job done. It works well in airport and hospital car parks. I still believe that it can perform an important role managing rat-running in Chiswick. For example unlike Mr Robinson's favoured hard barriers an ANPR based system can be programmed to operate only at certain times e.g. rush hours.

If Cllr Hearn thinks that the DfT driving test documentation needs improved, he should raise it with them.

Answer: This is plain daft Mr Robinson. I have never attacked the signage on SOG what I have attacked is the way that this specific scheme has been implementated in the full knowledge that its legal foundations are to say the least shaky.

The question is whether an adjudicator will accept inferred evidence that the vehicle did not stop based upon timing between cameras, or insist on direct evidence.

Answer: Exactly and no one knows the answer to this question. I readily accepted that the Green Dragon Lane pilot was necessary when told just how little practical experience Hounslow Traffic Officers could draw upon. It was however those same officers egged on by people like Mr Robinson who had proposed the two ambitious ANPR schemes as an integral part of the South Chiswick Schemes.

However a pilot could have been run in the Stile Hall Gardens three years ago. Such schemes can be simple and elegant needing little human intervention and requiring no admin intensive white lists. The permutations you refer to Mr Robinson are for much more complex multi-camera schemes that we are not discussing here.

Maybe Cllr Hearn just didn't want to hear these real world challenges because he thought he could have his cake and eat it hence his flip-flop.

Answer: No flip-flop. Different horses for different courses. My motivation as an elected councillor is to promote schemes that will benefit the lives of most residents whilst causing little or no harm to the interests of the rest. You on the other hand Mr Robinson seek to make life as difficult as possible for those who have to use taxis, depend on motor vehicles to get to work, supply their businesses, deliver their groceries etc etc.

One thing is sure, he will continue to prioritise people in cars above everything else.

Answer: No Michael absolutely not. I look always for a fair balance - what you call having my cake and eating it. For you it is smack in a barrier and stand back and smirk when your neighbours have to make massive detours. A quick trip to Screwfix in Brentford from Chiswick Village - don't make me laugh.
