mike I’m really sorry to hear about this, I absolutely condemn cyclists on pavements, crossing red lights and zebra crossings. My points in my first post were not that there are no illegal cyclists, my point is that we need to look at ALL road users who break the law and condemn them equally rather than this constant anti cyclists rhetoric. Not all cyclists break the law not all drivers break the law, but a substantial number of both do. Personally i don’t when I drive or cycle. My point was it’s important to recognise this is not about one “side” against the “other”. However the anti cyclist feeling on a lot of the posts here is extremely worrying and scary because in my view it will encourage drivers to take action against cyclists and if you’ve ever been in a situation where you’re cycling near an aggressive driver you may understand just how scary that is. It is perfectly normal for cars to pull out in front of you as a cyclist or to drive too close when overtaking, these things happen at every ride I take. So I perfectly understand how frightening it is when a cyclist speeds dangerously along a pavement passed you. |
