Fact is a lot of cyclists don't and won't use cycle lanes as it interferes with their 'freedom' to dodge in and out of traffic and use both sides of the road. This isn't my view, btw, but the thoughts of a couple of our cycling friends who agree the new cycle paths created on CHR are completely unnecessary and will not be used by the majority of seasoned cyclists. I still don't understand the reason for their creation in the first place. The main roads in Chiswick were wide enough for both cyclists and motorists to use comfortably and safely, and now we have roads too narrow and unfit for motorists and cycle lanes that really won't benefit the majority of cyclists. Just waiting now for inevitable accident that will happen as a result of the construction of those crazy bus islands that will require people to cross the cycle lanes and stand in the middle of the road to catch a bus... |
