Alex. How can you speed in a car when you are grid locked? The average driving speed in London BEFORE these idiotic road measures was 11mph. Try speeding down Park Lane these days - one lane when it used to be 3 !! Where ever I drive these days I rarely get into 3rd gear as there are 20mph restrictions everywhere. How much more pollution does that put into the atmosphere? And as for "Overtaking around a traffic island" ?? The only road users I have ever seen doing that are the two wheeled variety. If you are going to ignore what cyclists do ALL the time then I would like to add riding on pavements as well. Dear old Genghis wants to add a cycle lane from Shepherds Bush roundabout to Notting Hill. Why I don't know. 70% of ALL cyclists in Holland Park Avenue ride through red lights and on pavements at all times of the day. They wouldn't travel any faster in bike lanes. And as for the double width cycle lanes either side of Kensington High Street ....!!! |
