Surely that's obvious ? - to 'scare' people so that they're more likely to adhere to whatever the government says. Personally I'm sick and tired of certain sections of the media and some of the public going on about a second wave, almost as though they're rubbing their hands at the idea of being proved right. Does it not stand to reason that as any restrictive measures are lifted and people start to return to some kind of 'normal' behaviour thee's going to be an increase in cases, coupled of course with ever-increasing amounts of testing ?. The death rate in both the UK and in Europe isn't rising, for instance in Germany the average 7 day daily death rate was at 8 at the start of July and is now fluctuating between 3 and 5. France is at 9 when it was at 19 at the start of July. Yet the media is full of scare-mongering about rising cases in France, conveniently omitting to mentioning how low its death rate has been for over a month and how its death rate continues to fall. Surely the fact the such countries (including the UK) are experiencing more cases whilst also experiencing an ever reducing death rate is actually encouraging ?. |
