Fascinating Fraser, and your point is...? How come its sterling going down and not the euro.... As the article in the Telegraph (the bible of Brexiters and denier of all things Project Fear) mentioned, gilt investors are no longer adjusting their holdings to reflect the fall in value of sterling ie they are allowing their exposure to UK assets to fall. Ultimately the market makes the call, not the IMF and one specific calculation... Regarding the debate on the euro, its the same with the idea of European defence integration. We have one of the two candidates for the White House making pro-Putin noises and suggesting Nato countries should pay for their own defense, plus the migrant crisis and Middle East unrest is on Europe's doorstep. Obama has already completed the US pivot to Asia as their main field of engagement, I dont think EUrope can rely on the US to police its borders or guarantee its security in the long term, regarldess of who wins in November. PS I say all of the above without being a particular fan of the euro and fairly indifferent to EUropean defense integration, but frankly if we are leaving the EU why are we so obsessed with it..? As a member we could indeed have vetoed defense integration, but I am not sure I fully understand why we would want to....
