I suspect the nature of the EU may change over the next few years. But regardless the younger generation are on the whole pro-European, they are certainly not suspicious of Europe as many of the older generation are. If we leave the EU without good acess to the markets (which will mean freedom of movement) then I have no doubt that Scotland will leave the UK and apply to rejoin. Those rejoicing in GREEAAAAT britain will then be left with land borders in Ireland and a rebuild of Hadrians Wall. What is left of the UK will be isolated from the top table in everything, beyond Europe but also including the G7 and other key global events. Still, we can buy bendy bananas, so all is well. |
