Still really confused, what did Leave supporters vote for, I have different answers from everyone I have asked. Was it an end to more immigration (Farage and Boris seem to have different views on this), a dislike of the Germans (several have mentioned this), a change to make this country GREEAAAT again. On the latter, how does our currency and stock markets going down 10% achieve this, I'm genuinley curious? Sterling collapsed after the financial crisis but it did nothung for our exports. We are currently running a trade deficit of around £4 billion a month. We have very little manufacturing or heavy indsutry left, its gone overseas, mainly to Asia, and is not coming back. The UK economy is dependent on servies. The EU may well give us a good deal on goods, which they sell more to us than vice versa, but unlikely to be so generous on services, especually finance where they had already given us numerous opt outs from more strict regulations in the rest of the EU. Can any leaver tell me one tangible way that their life is going to change now we are leaving the EU. THe DailyPoison highlighted bendy bananas and more powerful vacuum cleaners, I was ecstatic at the prospect... If we realise the Gove dream of associate status (like Albania and Turkey) you realise it will likely mean travel visas to go to Europe..... |
