But my point was Brian that such a notion is completely unrealistic. Town Planners aren't there to 'support' anyone/favour one group over another, be it traders, residents, developers, they are there to determine planning application based upon the development plan and relevant material planning considerations. Indeed speaking both professional and personally, the last thing I expect or want a Town Centre Manager to be doing is vehemently taking sides on a planning matter to keep one side of the community 'sweet' - to me that isn't their job and just like any Council employee they need to ensure they've not favouring one particular group over another, which was precisely what happened in the case I was referring to and I really felt this particular TCM was leaving herself open to disciplinary action. |
