Lots of influential ministers including Johnson and Goldsmith, May (two potential future PMs) are fervently opposed. No taxpayer money, as far as I am aware, has been invested in Heathrow, apart from the stupid Davies report which is not worth the paper it's written on - if it had been, Heathrow would have been given the go-ahead by now. If Heathrow want to spend their profits (ie what we pay for flights) on architects and plans etc, that's up to them. Gatwick has also said it is planning for a second runway. Not a miracle, imho if if doesn't happen, but logic, conforming to regulations, and common sense. Maybe that is a miracle these days. |
