I feel compelled to contribute given my family history is all about fish & chips, my Grandad was a fish merchant on Grimsby Docks for 60 years, my Grandad and Grandma owned several chip shops in their time too, and my parents owned a fish and chip shop in the area for 15 years !. The only place I go to regularly is Mario's on Twickenham Road which I personally think remains the best chip shop I've visited locally. We did once eat in Pier 1 in Richmond which I thought was good (Mrs. not so keen) although the batter isn't something of an acquired taste. I've also tried the Fauconberg Road place once and wouldn't ever go back, awful dry sausages, poor chips, watery mushy peas. Never been to Edensor Road. Still don't think anywhere down here tastes as good as what I can get up north when I'm visiting my parents !. |
