Thank you all, interesting stuff.  She has a buyer for her flat, but has told them that it may take them a while to find something so their buyers have said they are happy to wait, which makes me wonder if she sold too cheaply, or do they just really like it.  The house she is thinking of buying she has made an offer on but literally yesterday so I wonder if she has a week or so to keep looking before anyone pushes her to start paperwork.  It's complicated she and her husband quite like the property she has made an offer on, the rest of the family aren't keen on the property or the location, but it is the best of a bad bunch so far.  What a stressful business it is.
