Eh? All schemes make electricity. Electricity is just a form of energy. Energy can exist in different forms kinetic, potential, thermal, electrical. Pump storage schemes simply convert electical energy into potential energy by moving water up hill. So a windmill makes electricity - it goes into the grid if there is no immediate demand for it it can be used by the pump storage scheme to move water up hill. When the wind stops blowing the water can fall down the hill again and be converted back into electricity. Simple really. |
