Philippa, just in case you were wondering, let me assure you that I have never fly-tipped or would do so: it just seems a hugely attractive option. When I recently got my allotment I was specifically told to take excess rubbish to the dump/recycle centre; they didn't say which, but I was never turned away from Townmead until yesterday. Many thanks for the info you have obtained. Regrettably what it says doesn't apply to Townmead any more. Also, it makes no mention of the £41 charge and so is out of date. I had a very pleasant chat with the staff at Townmead when they turned me away but far from being "happy to help me recycle as much as possible" they were happy (I could tell because they were smiling) to turn me away. They "caught" me not because they were checking residency but because I was using a green bag with "Hounslow" printed in black on it. Karen kindly says there is no charge for garden waste at Stirling Road (even for Chiswick residents?) so I will go there instead (being one more car adding to the traffic crossing A4 at Sutton Road, twice). |
