I agree people should look at the plans carefully before drawing any conclusion, but I do wish someone could explain why green space needs to be 'used' constantly. Can it not just be? Is it only deemed useful when it's got a hundred and one things going on and people dashing around? I wouldn't trust Hounslow for starters given their recent record, and can I just say it isn't paranoia on the part of critics, they may well have taken a look at the double dealing, fiddling and downright lying that are going on in other parts of the borough. Once we let these lovely spaces go we will never get them back, and private concerns do not do anything out of the goodness of their hearts in my experience. Public interests must come first, or before you know it there'll be umpteen excuses and reasons dreamed up as to why a school/hotel or private leisure complex is really the best idea. We all 'get' the terrible financial pressures councils are under, that is simply no excuse for this seeming rush to take away valuable open spaces. |
