Wow, its certainly paranoia on here. ALex: no I have not link whatsoever to the council or developers. I am a long term user of the park for dog walking, occasional football use and children's activities. Claire: I guess we have a very different view of what utilisation looks like. 70-80% of what???? The fields at the western edge of the park are pretty empty whenever I go (weekly) and the use of the sports pitches has reduced dramatically over recent years. The main building option seems to be a sports hall, a welcome addition when there is a chronic lack of indoor sports facilities in west London (note the current refusal to extend permission for the dome at Dukes Meadow. Decent sports pitches and good changing facilities would be a great addition to the park. And still leave plenty of room for others to use the fields for dogs, kites or whatever. There are huge open spaces around the park that will remain untouched. Lets keep a a sense of perspective here. Some of the response on here to the proposals are astonishing. As someone else said, lets debate the proposals in a sensible manner. |
