Fully agree Michael but none of the parties in Parliament seem to be prepared to be innovative and challenge some very vested interests who have done very well out of UK property since WWII. The implementation of better rules for the rental sector has been floundering along since it broke with the scandals of the '60s (Peter Rachman type tactics exposed post the Profumo Scandal and breakthrough TV film "Cathy come home") without deep changes occurring. As the relevant parts of the recent TV documentary series "The debt collectors" which usually has an abused poor family being evicted shows, there is very little protection where unscrupulous landlords are operating. |
