No I agree, Charlotte, but you can do a lot - I won't have lilies or in fact any flowers with pollen in my house and garden that my cats could come into contact with, and before I buy a house or garden plant I check on lists of plants that are toxic to cats in particular. I don't have a parrot or a tarantula so that doesn't bother me, and many people do know the dangers of cocoa mulch so can avoid that. The list is not endless and many dangerous things can easily be avoided if the owners know about the dangers,
But I see no reason at all, when xylitol is not a necessary ingredient in anything - there are many alternatives that could be used instead that are not so deadly to dogs - it can't be banned, which would avoid terrible suffering for the dog and heartbreak for the owner if a dog ingests it for whatever reason. |
