It vaporised - most plane crashes aren't at 700kph into a solid wall of rock, so (like with 9/11, actually) you can't necessarily read across from a 'normal' landing accident or similar where the fuel tanks are disrupted at relatively low speed and wreckage is concentrated in a small area. Early video from the scene showed small smoking areas, so presumably there was a fire or explosion at impact, but the degree of scattering and fragmentation pretty much precludes any long-lasting fire. |
