'There surely has to be something fundamentally wrong with the Airbus 320, probably software related.' Clearly the French accident investigators don't need to bother with wreckage and black boxes, you've got it all taped. What happened, then? "Too many have dropped from the skies in the last few years." Well, one is too many, but considering the number built and the number flying every day they're staggeringly safe. It's worth going back to the early 70s and see how many people the much smaller airline industry managed to kill. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the A320 any more than the Boeing 737, it's just that with the numbers in service it's quite likely they'll be involved in a substantial proportion of big jet accidents. |
