"The most common complaint was cyclists trying to overtake buses from the inside lane" Since when has that been an offence ? Trying to pass buses on the outside is extremely hazardous for a cyclist as they tend to accelerate away when you are half-way past and you find yourself stranded in the middle of the road with other vehicles following the bus preventing you from getting back into the kerbside. Bus drivers should leave sufficient space between them and the kerb for cyclists, and use their indicators and mirrors when pulling in to the kerb at bus stops. Before pulling away they should indicate and check that there are no cyclists in the act of passing them on the outside. |
