Anne, that was probably the area crime car.They would have had a main set radio on board so if you rang 999, the call would've been handled as I described above.It would have been graded I and sent to Hounslow to deal with.However, because it was an 'active' call (recent) it would also have been sent to the radio despatcher channel south.He would have broadcast it as an "any unit to deal"call.You say the police arrived very quickly which leads me to believe it was the crime car and it was very close to you when the broadcast went out.And because it was close to you they accepted the call.Crime cars usually don't break cover, for obvious reasons. |
