The oriental cats need one another's company - they are not solitary animals - and they are very loving to humans too, so for that reason you should not leave them alone for long periods.

I bought two siamese brothers - nine years later they are incredibly affectionate both to each other and to me, curl up together, groom one another, eat from the same bowl and don't like the other one not to be around.  Over the years I have added another siamese, a Balinese and a Snowshoe and all get on fabulously, play together etc and clearly want to be with one another.  It is not at all true that all cats are solitary animals.  Some siamese breeders won't sell one kitten alone as they need to be with others.

Regarding litter trays, they should have one each and a spare, and I disinfect all used ones every day - that is the main culprit for passing on any diseases they may pick up and most cats do pick them up at some stage.
