Why is it ? Every time anybody posts something on here criticizing cyclists for their bad road manners, there is always someone that starts bleating about evil car drivers.Just accept if.You maybe the most considerate cyclist on Earth, but not all cyclists are like you.The person I met this morning went through the lights a good 3-4 seconds after the lights turned red.He hadn't slowed down or checked for other traffic. As far as he was concerned, he had right of way.Just because drivers jump red lights doesn't mske it right for cyclists to do so.Yes, car drivers do jump red lights, but from my observations, drivers tend to go through red lights just after they change ro red.I have never seen a driver slow down and then carry on through the red light. Both cyclists and drivers do jump red lights but with car drivers it is not usually pre-meditated.They approach the light as it goes to amber and rather than brake, they will a accelerate and go through the light on red.Cyclists that jump red lights do so intentionally, often passing a queue of traffic already waiting at the red light. But by far the worst cycling I have seen is at pedestrisn crossings where cars have stopped to let someone cross, but the cyclist just carries on even when the pedestrians are actually on the crossing. |
