Agree - try the British Heart Foundation. And there are more furniture people on the West London Waste website. I'm sorry that you are having difficulty. The charities are now suffering because they are often manned by volunteers and they have to pick up cases which the councils are no longer providing for. There are also the stricter rules on waste to take into account. Freecycle is another option. Charities usually have a permit so that it costs them less to use the Reuse & Recycling Centres because otherwise they could find that they are paying out more to dispose of stuff than they are raising. I am finding it easier to do it bit by bit. Summer clothes went in the summer and now I'm going through winter clothes. (Charities don't have the space - and most could do with volunteers to mend and wash items which they feel are saleable and sadly aren't clean enough to put out.) Ebay or Gumtree otherwise. It's always better to find people who actuallyw ant what you are trying to get rid of. Although there are I'm sure there are still companies that clear homes... |
