I am sceptical of the benefits of cleaning up the overflow sewers downstream of Chiswick when the huge works at Mogden continues to regularly pour sewage into the Thames when heavy rain occurs. The Thames modelling that supported the upgrade of Mogden indicated that discharge to the river should be limited to very rare occasions. Since the larger works was fully commissioned last year Mogden has discharged significant quantities 17 times in 2014. I fear that Thames is spending a lot of our money to achieve relatively little based on modelling that isn't linked to what happens in the real world.
