| "why would anyone be in favour of a project that would mean noise, disruption and potential subsidence of their house" Every major engineering project since Stonehenge has meant noise, disruption and potential subsidence. In the case of the Thames Tunnel you would be in favour of it because it will mean lead to a significant improvement in water quality in the Thames and reduce the risk of over flowing sewers backing up onto our streets. My original point however is that people in Chiswick seem to have accepted the building of the tunnel under the area with relatively little comment and I find that surprising. People have got worked up about schemes that are relatively trivial and will have far less impact. |
