My direct ancestors on my Father’s side were Scottish and fought at both Bannockburn & Flodden (both father and son killed) and my mother was Scottish so I have a strong connection to Scotland. I don’t have a vote but if I did I would have to keep the Union purely on the basis the road map for independence just is not clear enough. If they do go for independence I wish them well and although they may struggle for a while my guess is they would sort themselves out fairly quickly and go from there. It saddens me to hear Scots say they will vote Yes to get a fairer society. They are deluded into thinking this by the politians, history tells us that this just does not happen and the rich will still get richer and the poor poorer. My worry for the rest of us is the Independence stand on Faslane and our nuclear deterrent. Like it or not we need it the way the world is today and to relocate it does not bear thinking about. |
