People I have spoken to here seem very laid back about whether the Scots decide to go on their own. I would say though, there is a feeling that if they go they shouldn't expect to be able to take any of the current financial advantages with them or be allowed to cherry pick the good bits that suit them. Overall I think there's a feeling that we're probably better together, and I think Salmond is on one big ego trip. So, they feel miles away from Westminster well. I live what? 9 miles away, but as far as any connection with what goes on there it could be the other side of the Moon. Some wit made the point in the paper last week that in a few years time England and Wales could be holding a referendum about letting our impoverished northern neighbours back into the Union. |
