It is up to the PEOPLE to be more responsible for their own waste. They themselves are responsible for the amount that they buy and make and for putting it out in the way that they have been asked to. There is nothing unusual in what has been asked of them. Just take a look at other Councils' websites. It is then up to the Council to make sure that the collection they have contracted is good enough. BTW At least one Council has now moved to a three-weekly residual waste collection. Some Councils put bright stickers on dumped waste pointing out that it has been dumped and is illegal. This helps draw attention to the fact. There are a lot of people who seem to think that they should simply be cleaned up after. Unfortunately it is just that time of year when there are people going on holiday. This is when good and poor management skills show. So you can be proud of yourself if you have stayed in control of your fridge on the run-up to your holiday. Maybe you have a neighbour who would be happy for a few leftovers if they are unfreezable and you can't freeze them? |
