"Yes, why not?. The A4 must be about the worst thing that ever happened to Chiswick." Except that it took most of the through traffic away from the High Road. The fact is that the A4 is the major road artery between London and the west, and holding up 6 lanes of traffic to let pedestrians cross on the level will cause massive diversion of vehicles on to less suitable routes to try to avoid the delays. It might be possible to insert a crossing at the Hogarth Roundabout, but a surface crossing anywhere else would in my view be a very bad move on environmental, safety and economic grounds. |
