The problem is that one extra surface level crossing would not really help pedestrians very much - except those who live near that crossing. The rest of us will have to continue to use the subways. The A4 is a very long road and if another surface pedestrian crossing is added somewhere in Chiswick there woill be demands for more elsewhere. More than one more surface level crossing would seriously impact traffic flows on the A4 and and all the roads which connect to the A4.
