Driving over the Shepherd's Bush roundabout recently I notice a sign that indicated a pedestrian crossing was to be built on the north bound exit. I think I'm right in saying this is classed as a motorway A(M)41 so this must be the UK's first pedestrian crossing on a road such as this. Obviously with the White City shopping centre coming there will be thousands of extra people in the area but this junction can often be congested and it will be right on the edge of the extended congestion charge zone. As with Chalkers Corner the flow of traffic over a major junction is going to be slowed to accomodate pedestrians on a road hardly anyone would want to cross. |
